Stroke Recovery
Stroke recovery is one of the most challenging journeys a person can face — and one where the conventional medical system often runs out of answers too soon. At Healing Response, Dr. Wolf is Nanopuncture-certified, trained in a specialized neurological acupuncture system developed by Dr. Clayton Shiu that directly targets the neurovascular mechanisms underlying stroke damage. Nanopuncture integrates Western neurological analysis with Eastern medicine knowledge of the tendinomuscular meridians to restore healthy blood flow to the brain and spinal cord, allowing nerves to reawaken and regenerate.
Our Approach
Functional assessment to identify where neurovascular circulation is inhibited — analyzing blood flow patterns to the brain and spinal cord using both Western neurological and Eastern medicine frameworks.
Augmented Brain Blood Flow protocol — a core Nanopuncture technique designed to directly increase cerebral circulation to oxygen-deprived regions of the brain.
Neural Flush technique — resetting and rebooting the nervous system to support neuroplasticity and nerve regeneration in both acute and chronic post-stroke cases.
Cervical assessment and treatment — the neck acts as a natural shock absorber after brain injury and becomes inflamed, impacting major blood vessels including the vertebral basilar artery and paraspinal arteries. Addressing this is critical to restoring circulation through the circle of Willis.
Functional neurological rehabilitation — targeted exercises to retrain affected motor, vestibular, and cognitive pathways and support long-term neuroplasticity.
Intensive treatment scheduling available — Dr. Wolf offers concentrated treatment schedules (multiple sessions per week or per day) for patients traveling from a distance, mirroring the approach used in her 5-Day Neurocaytion program.
Dr. Wolf is one of a select group of practitioners certified in Nanopuncture — a specialized neurological acupuncture system with a specific methodology for stroke rehabilitation that goes far beyond conventional acupuncture. The brain has incredible potential for neuroplasticity throughout adulthood, not just childhood. We are not done when conventional medicine says there is nothing more to do.
"My name is Michael Joseph Bortoli M.D. I retired from a busy career in 2019. I was a fully trained family medicine physician. I retired as I needed to have neck surgery. As a complication of that surgery, I had a lacerated blood vessel and suffered 2 strokes. The second being a brain stem stroke. I initially did the usual medical treatment and rehab with poor results. I did several nontraditional treatments with minimal results."
"Finally, I decided to try Acupuncture with Dr. Ayla Wolf. Dr. Wolf is a nationally known acupuncturist and educator. As a clinician she is outstanding, her grasp of neurology far exceeds any physician I am familiar with. She has a bedside manner again vastly superior to other clinicians I know. Since we were coming from a long distance she saw me 2 times a day for one week. By the end of the week, I had improved greatly and was sent home with a follow up plan, Chinese meds, and exercises. All far more than the treatments offered by the Traditional western medical Physicians."
"Respectfully submitted with full endorsement."
